Comments of 2008

I worked on Saturday and left Daryl a list of things around the house that needed to be done. Sunday I found out that Olivia and Daryl went to Menards. I asked Olivia what did daddy buy at Menards? Olivia said "Daddy didn't buy anything, he didn't follow his honey-do list."

It is supper time and Olivia was eating pistachios in the shell. I said "Olivia, the pistachios are not your supper tonight" Olivia said "I know they aren't for supper mom, they are just for joy"

Livy and Jenna were playing with dolls, and Jenna's doll threw something into Livy's doll's hair. Livy said "OHHHH, now she'll have to wash her hair 50 hundred times", Jenna said, "WOW, that is a lot of times"

Livy was playing with play doh at the table and rolling up paper and standing it up on the table. She asked me to roll out her play doh flat for her. I did it and handed it to her. She said "Thanks mom, it will be part of my contraption." Where is she getting these words from???

Olivia listens to us way too much. Today Olivia, Jenna, and Daryl were in the kitchen...Daryl was making supper while he was talking on the phone. The girls of course were being talkative at the table. Daryl was goofing around by the table and Livy turned to him and said "Dad, that is NOT NECESSARY"

I know my widget is up.....but I can't bear to take it off. It is sooooo neat. Maybe when I find something of Tudors to replace it with I'll give it up.....or not. :)

Livy and I were outside digging out dead flowers from the flower pots. I told Livy to get her claw gardening tool to mix up the dirt and prepare it for new flowers. Livy replied "I'll take care of the compost mom." No clue where she got that word from.

I wasn't sure if I should add this one, but what the heck. I'll do it as innocently as possible. Daryl came into the living room by Olivia and I and asked me what holiday it was. Apparently there is some holiday that men are trying to create and I knew instantly by the smirk on his face that he was referring to that specific holiday. I replied "Steak and BJ day?" If you don't know what that abbreviation means, call me. I don't want to get in trouble with the internet :) Olivia hearing us immediately replied "Steak and P J? That doesn't sound very good"

Olivia was playing with her dolls which included a mom, grandma, and two babies. The mom and grandma were talking and Olivia had the mother say "these are my two children, children are a big responsibility!"

Olivia heard me earlier in the day mentioning that Daryl and I might go to dance class tonight. Later, Olivia came up to me and asked "mom, when you and your husband go to dance, who will watch me?"

Olivia has gotten into telling jokes lately. Her favorite is telling about the chicken or other animal crossing the road, and finishes it with something goofy, like "why did the chicken cross the road...because he had butterflies on his tootie butt." Something like that. So I decided to tell her the joke the right way...I said "Olivia, why did the chicken cross the road?" Olivia asked why? "To get to the other side". Olivia said "That's not funny mom"

We all woke up this morning, Daryl, Olivia, and I in our bed. Daryl asked Olivia to lay on his back to help stretch it out. She wouldn't, so I layed on his back. Olivia then layed on my back and there we were. I said to Olivia, look it's a family sandwich. You and daddy are the buns and mom is the meat. Olivia said, no mom, you and I are the buns and dad is the jam :)

Because of being sick I had either layed down or sat up for an entire 6 days and did not do much else. Normally I'm running all around the house doing something. On the 6th day I was laying on the couch and Olivia came up to me. She asked "Mommy, are you going up to heaven?" You know your sick when your child asks you that!

I'm of course getting ready to play guitar hero. Olivia asks "Are you going to jam mom?" I tell her yup. She watches me complete the song. Olivia says "mom, do you rock?" I reply yup, mom rocks.

Olivia noticed me vacuuming and decided to help. She pulled out her toy vacuum and starting vacuuming with me. She decided to get a head start and move to the bedrooms. Meanwhile, I was still in the living room when I noticed my vacuum smelled like rubber was burning. I turned it off, layed it sideways, and began pulling out all the carpet threads and hair off the roller which made a huge mess on the floor. Olivia came back into the living room by me and noticed my vacuum cleaner laying on the floor and a huge messy pile next to it. Olivia said "mom, you need a vacuum cleaner like I have, no fuss no muss"

Mom, can I watch "Wizard B Voz?" (wizard of oz)

Mom, yesterday I had to call 911 because I got lost in a tormato. (tornado)

When Olivia is calling to me and I don't acknowledge it or hear her she yells "MOM....ole lay ole lay ole lay he whooooo."

Livy and I went to the mall. I parked and was getting out to unbuckle Olivia. Olivia said, "mom, don't forget my roller coaster." (stroller)

Tyler had a friend come over and Olivia didn't know that he stayed the night. The next morning Tyler came into the kitchen followed by his friend. Olivia said "Tyler, your human is still here?"

Olivia, are you tired? Do you need mom to hold you? Olivia said "mom, I need some cuddle time, I need a snack, and I need my lovin time" (she gets I need my lovin from dad) "Can I have a wishwish for my snack? (licorice)

Grandma was babysitting Livy. Livy came running out of the bathroom (toilet flushed) and said "Grandma, I pooped in the potty" (we have been working on that with her and if she does, she gets a treat) Grandma said "can I see?" Livy said, "I already flushed it". Grandma told her what a good girl she was and Livy got to pick out a piece of candy from the candy jar. Livy was sitting at the table, candy gone, and said "Grandma, I'm sad". Grandma asked why. Livy said "Grandma, I didn't poop in the potty" Grandma said "did you tell grandma a lie?" Livy walked up to grandma, put her hand on grandma's cheek and said "it's ok grandma, it's not in this world, you can be happy."_________________

Olivia has been begging for me to buy the new blue barbi peacock dress for her to wear at her upcoming birthday. I explained to her that mom didn't have money to buy it at that time. She said "Ok, will you think about it?" I told her I would. This morning Olivia came into our bedroom, jumped up on the bed, layed on top of daddy and smothered him with hugs and kisses. Daryl of course told her he loves all the love he was getting. Olivia said "Dad, do you have money so I can have that blue barbi dress for my birthday?" What did daddy say??? Can I have a little more loving? Of course Olivia smothered him again and he gave in. A girl who knows how to work it!!

Me "Olivia, gymnastics is starting and you are going every day for five days." Olivia "But mom, I'll get all burnt out"Me "Not all day for five days, just a little bit each day"

Olivia "Mom when are you going to work so Grandma can babysitt me?"

I watched Austin one Friday night who played with Olivia. It was time for Olivia to go to bed and she said "Mom I can't sleep all by myself, can Austin sleep with me?"

Me "Olivia, what color are papa's eyes?"Olivia "Green"Me "What color are grandma's eyes?"Olivia "Brown"Me "What color are mama's eyes?"Olivia "Green"Me "What color are your eyes?"Olivia "Periwinkle"

Livy "Dad where are you going"Daryl "I have to go to work today"Livy "I don't want you to work today"Daryl "I have to work so I can make money for the family"Livy comes over to me and places her hand on my cheek..."Mom, I'm sorry but you have to go and work 10 hours today"

Watch mom and dad, I can speak in spanish.... Enie, Meanie, Miney, Mo....

Livy "Grandma you should swim in our pool with us today" Grandma "I will next time I don't have my suit with me" Livy "You can swim naked like the fish do" Grandma "I'll scare the birds away" Livy "They can fly way up high to the top of the palm trees and god will save them"

Not much really going on for the month of May. Today we did go to Austyn's birthday party at his house. It was just pretty much family invited...he had a seperate pool party and sleep over on a different night. We got him some supplies for his Wii game.
Oliva only has a total of about 3 more days of school left, and then this fall she will be in 4 year old kindergarden. She will have classes Monday through Friday for three hours each morning.

I guess the only new thing brewing is plans are in the making for an attached 6 car garage for our house with a home theater room above it. Take one guess who THAT room is for......uh huh, not me.

I'm also thinking of adding web design to my list of job descriptions. I'm thinking of taking some classes for it and working with Daryl's business to offer that option. Apparently, there is already a client that would hire me. Yah me. That may not get started until fall.

Yes, I know this is a boring entry, but I'm just trying to catch up. Oh yah, I almost forgot...the BIG time waster that I enjoy lately is not just regular old Pogo, but CLUB POGO. Yup, it will get you every time!! I'm so hooked that I signed my mother up as well for a mother's day gift. She loves it! Big waste of time....DON'T DO IT!!! Step away from the computer!! Head towards the light, the light is your friend! LOL

Dance Studio's Spring Spectacular

Our Dance Studio put on a Spring Spectacular this year. Daryl, my mother, and I went. It started out with open dancing, then there was some pro-am dancers that performed from around Wisconsin, then was the highlight of the evening...A dancer from Dancing With the Stars (Jesse DeSoto) (the guy), and his partner came to perform. Here is a picture of him and his partner with Daryl and I. He was on dancing with the stars in 2004.

HD TV taking over.

Well, Daryl bought our first HD flatscreen TV 32"? and we mounted on the wall in our bedroom. I love it except, we don't get any high definition channels yet. Hummm....apparently he was so happy with it that when he found a deal online for a 40some inch HD TV for $800, he instanted purchased it to replace the TV in our living room. OK, so now we have 2 TVs that are HD quality, without any HD channels. OK, we do on occasion get a couple through cable. So here we sit...two beautiful TV's....yup, out goes cable and in comes satellite. We are also substituting movie channels with Net Flix. Net Flix has a new feature that lets you instantly watch 1000 some movies instantly if you have internet connected to your TV. Cool. We are so getting with the times :)

Big Oven Recipe Software

I LOVE IT!!! I did a search for the best online recipe program to help organize my life. I found this one rated the best. IT IS. It comes with approximately 200 built in recipes in the program to get you started. From there you add your own, delete the ones you don't want, then go on their web site where you have access to 150,000 more recipes that you can drag and drop into your program on your computer at any time. The program also lets you drag and drop recipes into your "shopping list", or into your "calender" for meal planning. It downs sizes or up sizes for you depending on how many people you are feeding, and tells you the nutrition value, you can print out any of the recipes, or why not create and even publish if you like your own cookbook. :) There is a lot more to it. Check it out.... www.bigoven.com

Time for Spring Cleaning

I LOVE spring cleaning. I know summer is coming, and that my house will soon be spotless. I'm a super clean freak. When I spring clean, say the kitchen for instance, EVERYTHING comes out of every drawer and cubbard. Then I wipe it all down, clean and organize what was in the drawers and replace it in the best spot. I super clean the stove and refridgerator, after I pull them away from the wall to clean the floor and behind them....I wipe down walls, and all surfaces, clean curtains, and windows...I could go on and on. I could have the president over when I'm through. Right now I'm doing Olivia's room. Her carpet is getting steam cleaned (we own the cleaner). I like it because little repairs or updates that have been put off, also get finished.
Yesterday Olivia and I worked outside. It was 50 degrees out. Felt great with the massive cold spell we have had. Livy and I pulled out all our dead flowers from the pots, and she mixed up the dirt with her gardening tools she got for Christmas from grandma and grandpa. We also took down Christmas lights, and raked up some leaves. Our front yard looks nice now.

This is a picture of the 1000 piece puzzle Daryl, Olivia, and I just finished. I'm thinking of gluing this puzzle together and putting it on Olivia's wall. I bought it day before yesterday and Daryl and I were up until 1am last night finishing it. I guess we need a more challenging puzzle since this one only took two days. :) Possibly a more challenging puzzle like this 24000 piece puzzle that is 14ft wide and 5 ft tall, check it out! It's only $300.

I have seen the light :)

Yeah! We are officially healthy again. I kept Olivia out of school for a whole week even though she wasn't sick because I didn't want to chance going through that again. A lot of children were out of school in her class and they were all coming back that week. The school understood. You can get away with that when they are in preschool :) It literally took us 2 months to completely recover. We are definately getting flu shots this fall!! Daryl was happy, our charge card was the lowest it has ever been because I did not leave the house that whole time. I gave Daryl my lists and he shopped for me :)

Where is my light at the end of the tunnel??

I have not posted because Olivia and I have been sooooooooooo sick. It started out a week and a half ago with Olivia having apparently influenza (big surprise), everyone in the nation is getting the flu bug. I took her to the doctor, and they didn't give me any antibiotics or anything, just instructions to alternate Tylenol and Motrin to keep her 103.7 fever down and to sponge bathe her if she reaches 104. Nifty. This was on a Friday. By Saturday I felt sick. Chills, Fever, Sweats, headache, all of it. Of course on Saturday Daryl and I had tickets to go see the Lion King in Milwaukee. He ended up calling his mother and inviting her to go with him :( I was majorly bummed. By Sunday I realized that Olivia and I also had sinus infections. Perfect. Add to the misery. On Monday I called the doctor, they were not going to give us antibiotics for a sinus infection. By Wednesday I was crying. I hurt everywhere. Olivia seemed a bit better. I was told to take Musinex, Tylenol, and use a humidifier. I called the doctor back and insisted to be seen. They told me I had to go to urgent care. That was not happening because I did not have the energy to sit and keep Olivia happy for 3 hours amongst other very sick people only to be prescribed the wrong meds. I said schedule me for Friday, I can wait. I struggled till then with no sleep and now I keep blowing blood out of my nose with every blow. I stopped using the Muthinex. Guess what?? Olivia ended up having an ear infection, on top of everything else, and I developed Bronchitis along with my sinus infection. We got our antibiotics. We are on a very slow road to recovery. Today is only day 3 of being on the antibiotics. I feel better, but I stopped taking all the over-the-counter drugs because of my bleeding nasal passages. Olivia is doing great and will be going to school tomorrow. She missed all last week. To top off all of this, Princess, Olivia's fish died in the process. Luckily our talk with Olivia went well. She wants a red fish now. :) Wish us luck, I still feel like crap!

To Dyson or not to Dyson, that is the question!

Yup, time for a new vacuum cleaner. I researched and researched and it boiled down to The All Floor Dyson, (because the Animal Dyson is the same only with a couple of extra attachments and a floor cleaner kit for $150 more), or the Kenmore Progressive rated number one by consumer reports. After much debate, the Dyson won out. Kohls had it on sale for 399.99 and I just so happened to receive a 30% scratch off from the flyer. I snatched it up for roughly $280 plus tax. Not too shabby. I'll keep you posted on how it works :)

The Sneaky Chief

I just received a book order I made from Olivia's school. We ordered some new books, and I purchased a cookbook called the sneaky chief. All the recipes have a unique way of incorporating healthy fruits and veggies into everyday meals kids love. There are even things like Breakfast Ice Cream which includes ingredients like avacado, yogurt, bananas, cocoa powder, etc. I'm anxious to try some out. I know the trick is to not only make it look normal and yummy, but give it a fun name as well. I have served them chocolate malt-o-meal for breakfast, and I introduced it to them by calling it hot chocolate cereal. They love it and even ask for it at dinner sometimes, ( which I don't do by the way :)

Could we possibly get any more snow??

I don't know, the weather chanel said 5 inches of snow....I think they forgot a zero in that number. Luckily Olivia and I stayed home all day today. I don't think the van would be able to leave the driveway anyway. Yesterday Livy had a Valentine party at school. They made mailboxes out of paper plates and exchanged Valentines. She had a lot of fun. Today, we exchanged Valentines with her daddy and I. Daddy got her a big marshmellow sucker looking thing with frosting on it. I got her a card that had a princess barrette attached to it. I also snuck a Valentine in Jenna's backpack since she was going to be at her mother's house after school today.
Olivia has a very fabulous imagination. Everytime Grandma Bonnie comes over, she asks for "mousy" which is acted out by Grandma's hand. Of course my hand is something too....I'm spider. They are apparently both babies. Grandma will head home after a visit, and that night Olivia will say to me, "I hope mousy is having a nice sleep over at Grandma's".
Tonight, Olivia and I made bead necklaces, colored, played catch, popped popcorn and watched Strawberry Shortcake Berry Fairy Tales on the big screen.

AGGGGGGGG

I cannot believe it!! My memory disk for the Playstation is corrupted. The three months of playing guitar hero with points, purchases, and the high levels I was at are all LOST!!! I'm not feeling so good. Poor Tyler tried to help me start to build it back up. We lost all songs. I think I'm just going to go buy memory and keep it for just me. sniff sniff....I'm so depressed!

Dinner and a Movie

Daryl and I had a X-mas party to go to for his B&I Business group. Unbeknownst (is that a word? my spell check did not correct it...huh) to us, the party got cancelled which we did not know until we were on our way, got lost, and called for directions. When we were informed it was cancelled, (we were semi dressed up and had 5 pounds of shrimp waiting to be eaten) we decided that since my mom was already watching Olivia and prepared to spend the night, we would turn our night into dinner and a movie which we NEVER get to do. We ate at Arby's, I know, not fancy but we wanted to make the movie. Besides, their salads were FABULOUS. They grill tortilla strip chips and add almond slices to the salads. Anyway, we ate and went to see I AM LEGEND. Any movie with Will Smith is bound to be great. I loved the movie but the very ending as many have agreed sucked. If he was staying back to protect the woman and child from the zoombies getting them, fine. But if you have a stinkin grenade in your pocket anyway, then throw the sucker and get your butt in the protective compartment with them and SAVE YOURSELF. Just that part made me mad. The rest was great.

A Taste of Spring

Check this out!! The kids love it!

Pogo Crazy

Okay, I know it sounds like I am wasting a lot of my time playing games, but I'm really not. I LOVE Pogo and am getting mom hooked on it too. My favorite game currently is Rainy Day Spider Solitare. I'm playing it all the time. Come join me, my screen name is Swgdncr1970. If you catch up with me, I might just play you in a game of cribbage, or backgammon. :) Mom loves Poppit.

Guitar Hero Pro

Yup, that would be me. I'm totally addicted to Guitar Hero. I am one song away in the easy catagory from completing every song with gold stars, which means 100% no errors. I have almost 5 stars for every song on medium and can make it through the hardest song "Through the Fire and Flames" on medium, and I have six more songs to complete (barely finishing the songs without getting booed off) on the hard level.
We just bought Rock Band last week. I don't like the guitar that comes with it, but I like the drums, and I love the singing. That is the only thing on the face of the planet that says I sang AWESOME. I can get at least 85% on every song I sing on easy or medium. Probably because I have a good low voice and the majority of the songs are men singing them. Daryl wants to create a video. If we do, I'll publish it on my blog :)

Poor Princess

Olivia's poor beta fish. Princess (who is actually a boy, but we won't tell Olivia) for the past week has been floating sideways at the top of the tank. He looks like he has a small gash at the top of his head and maybe trouble with a fin on one side. I have no clue how this happened. Just when I think he is done for, he flips himself upright in a very labored effort and positions himself just so in the grooves of the tank to help hold him upright. At night her resorts to sleeping sideways at the top of the tank again. I'm a freak. I cannot bear to flush him, nor could I let Daryl take him away. What if he recovers? I dread the day he finally passes away and I have to tell Olivia. She knows about death, but I don't think she fully understands it. I don't want to hide it from her, but I have to make sure it is explained the right way in a gentle manner. Wish me luck, I'm sure that time will come relatively soon.

Olivia Won

Olivia had a dentist appointment scheduled which got cancelled because of bad weather. She hadn't been in for about 6 months. Apparently the dental office has a yearly drawing of all children that made it through the year with no cavities. The winner receives a prize. Since Olivia missed her appointment and she didn't have any cavities at her last visit, she made the drawing which was held after her scheduled appointment that got cancelled. They drew her name and she had the choice of either receiving an MP3 player, or a $100 savings bond. We took the bond. We still have to reschedule her dental appointment, but I'm willing to bet she doesn't have any cavities anyway ;)

The Dog Ate My Homework

Yup, it was actually a true statement! Jenna had to create a montage of items that add up to 100 on a large piece of contruction paper for school to celebrate the 100th day of school. I got a whole bunch of supplies together for her including stamps, stickers, balloons (mini), noodles, marshmellows (do you know where this is heading?), fruit loops, pipe cleaners, flowers, etc. Well, I layed her montage on the bench by the front door to dry and so I wouldn't forget it in the morning. Needless to say, Sunny (our golden) found it and ate all the food items off of it. The really funny part was that she did not destroy the paper that all of those items were glued on. She must have very carefully nipped at the marshmellows with her front teeth, and half of the fruit loops were still attached (the part that was glued obviously). Jenna actually got to tell her teach that her dog at her homework. Fortunately I had enough time before school to reattach new items onto her project, so all was well.

I'm Back

It's been a busy holiday season and finishing up on the videography business for 2007 which I just completed last week. Unfortunately the videography business for this year starts next month already. How time flies. I held off blogging because I wanted to create a book of the entire years worth of blogging for 2007 before starting up this year....but I don't think I have enough entries to fill up a book worth, so I'm going to wait until the end of this year to create a blog memory book. Which now allows me to start blogging again. YAH!!
